Propose Geobio Sessions for the 2018 GSA meeting

Help us promote Geobiology at the 2018 GSA in Indianapolis (Nov. 4-7)! Submit a relevant session proposal or short course that we can sponsor! Details below.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

We look forward to highlighting the Indiana area geology as well as the wider world of geoscience research at the GSA 2018 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Indianapolis. We challenge you to propose a Short Course and/or a Technical Session that will teach your colleagues and promote discussion about the incredible geological research going on today in so many different areas. If you have a particularly groundbreaking and dynamic topic in mind, consider proposing a Pardee Session to bring a special focus to your idea.

Proposals are being taken for both Pardee Keynote and Topical Sessions.

Courses run the Friday and Saturday before the Annual Meeting and are typically a half day to two full days.

Lectureships- UCL (UK)

Two lectureship positions at Earth Sciences, University College London, UK

The Department of Earth Sciences invites applications for two lectureship posts from 1st September 2018 in any area of the Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences. Applicants whose research will contribute to areas of strategic importance, and complement and strengthen the current research portfolio within the department are particularly welcome. We are seeking to appoint outstanding individuals with academic standing, vision and proven expertise who will provide leadership in their field of expertise, develop world-class research programmes and contribute to advanced teaching and knowledge exchange activities.

The postholder will have a PhD in a relevant discipline as well as experience in research, teaching or other employment in Earth, Environmental or Planetary Sciences.

Successful candidates will also have an outstanding record of academic research, a strong publications portfolio, a track record of success in income generation from public and/or commercial sources, and will be able to work collaboratively with an inter-disciplinary approach.

PAID Summer Internship with UMichigan Environmental Fellows Program

The Environmental Fellows Program is a summer fellowship program for masters and doctoral students that seeks to place students traditionally underrepresented in the environmental field and those committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in summer fellowships with environmental foundations and their grantees.

The Environmental Fellows Program involves:
·  A 13-week paid fellowship at either an environmental grantmaking foundation, or at one of their grantees. Past placement sites include: Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment; Earthjustice; Toxics Action Center, New England Grassroots Environment Fund, and many more! 
·  Fellows will receive a stipend of $10,000 plus a travel allowance. 
·  Last year's cohort worked on a wide variety of issues: environmental health, clean energy, marine conservation, transit solutions, energy justice, to name just a few!  
·  Fellowship placement sites are available in a range of places included but not limited to: New York City, Boston/New England region, San Francisco, Ann Arbor, MI, Grand Rapids, MI  
·  Fellows receive training in: diversity, equity, and inclusion; institutional culture; and professional development.
